What are Sleeper Earrings?
Sleeper earrings are also called starter earrings and these earrings are designed to be worn by people who get their ear pierced for the first time. These earrings are called ‘sleeper earrings’ as they need to be worn all the time even while sleeping. These earrings have a smooth front with unusually short posts and screw on backs. These earrings are additionally often made in hypoallergenic metals, such as sterling silver, gold, or surgical steel. Once the ear is healed from the piercing, the earrings are replaced by other types. So, anybody who got his / her pierced for the first time have to wear a sleeper earring for quick and easy healing.
In case of newly pierced ears, it is advisable that you keep sleeper earrings for long time. As removing and replacing earrings from newly pierced ears can cause infection and in some cases it may cause discomfort and irritation.
Some sleeper earrings come in the form of hoops, which can be a good choice for an older person with a newly pierced ear. These hoops may appear more stylish than simple studs, while serving the same purpose of being comfortable throughout all hours of the day. The only thing you must consider is that the hoops needs to be light weight or else it may cause further irritation and wound your piercing. The hoops might be a bad choice for a child because the chances are probably greater that a child would pull or tug on the hoop and inadvertently take it out.
