Tadoba also known as ‘The Jewel of Vidharba’ and is a Tiger reserve located in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra. Tadoba Andhari Tiger reserve is known to be Maharashtra’s oldest and largest National Park. adoba Tiger reserve borrows its name from the God “Tadoba” or “Taru”, praised by the tribal people who live in the dense forests of Tadoba and Andhari region. Inside the park you will see rich flora and fauna, wildlife, thick green Teak forest and a beautiful lake.
Tadoba is quite popular among the regular safari goers and wildlife lovers. It is said that Tadoba is one of the best places for Tiger sighting, they are found in abundance here. Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve is the amalgamation of Tadoba National Park & Andhari Wildlife Sanctuary. Total area of the Reserve is 625.4 square kilometers (241.5 sq m). This includes Tadoba National Park, created in 1955 with an area of 116.55 square kilometers (45.00 sq m) and Andhari Wildlife Sanctuary created in 1986 with an area of 508.85 square kilometers (196.47 sq m). The lifeline of the park are the Andhari River, Erai Dam, Kolsa Lake, Junoria Lake and the Tadoba Lake.
One of the finest tiger habitats Taboba is home to many other mammals, reptiles and insects. The complex web of life is interlinked inseparable with the floral elements. Bison, wolf, hyena, jackal, wild dogs and fox are secondary carnivores. Among the Central Indian deer species one can see the sambar, spotted deer, barking deer, chinkara, Nilgai and the four horned deer. Reptiles here include the endangered Indian python and the common Indian monitor. Terrapins, Indian star tortoise, Indian Cobra and Russel’s viper also live in Tadoba.

Tadoba national park is open for visitors from 15-Oct to 30-June every season. Tadoba national park remains Full-day CLOSED for visitors on every Tuesday. The main attraction of the Tadoba National Park is its jungle safari trips. Open top Gypsy vehicles, buses with trained local guides are available for visitors.
The nearest International Airport is Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, Nagpur. From Nagpur, tourists can heir taxi to reach Tadoba. The nearest gate is at Kolara which is 100 km from Nagpur. The farthest gate is at Moharli which is 150 km from Nagpur in Maharashtra.
