Ruling Khans of Bollywood

khans of Bollywood

We all know that the Khans are the undisputed kings of Bollywood and now one more Khan has joined them. We take a look at the kings who rule.

Shahrukh Khan

Probably the most popular of the Khans he has been at the head of the roost for a long time now. The Badshah of Bollywood has definitely come a long way and doesn’t look like he is going to relinquish his crown anytime soon. Shahrukh has won six Filmfare awards for Best Actor.

Aamir Khan

The perfectionist of Bollywood. He has long wooed audiences with his brilliant performances. He even wowed us in his directorial debut of ‘ Taare Zameen Par’.

Aamir Khan took special permission from Amitabh Bachchan to use Abhishek’s example in his film ‘Taare Zameen Par’. The reference is made in terms of Abhishek being one of the most successful stars and how he has created Dhoom, overcoming the reading difficulties that he had during childhood (dyslexia).

Salman Khan

The most prominent of the Khan brothers he has not had a hit in a long time other than ‘Partner’. But he is a darling of the masses and made a comeback with his TV show ‘Dus ka dum’. He never fails to keep his audience entertained. He often appears in films wearing a bracelet with a turquoise stone.

Saif Ali Khan

The comeback Khan of Bollywood is definitely Saif Ali Khan and after ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ there has been no turning back for this nawab. He has been churning out hit after hit. Saif studied at Winchester College in England.

Imran Khan

The new Khan on the block is Aamir’s nephew, Imran Khan. He has definitely turned heads with his boyish charm in his debut film ‘Jaane Tu…ya Jaane na’. Imran Khan is an extremely good cook and according to him cooking is a therapeutic exercise, after a long day’s work.

Irfan Khan

This Khan has given brilliant performance in India and abroad. He is the only Khan to have acted in Hollywood too. His recent performance that was memorable was in ‘The namesake’. Irfan Khan’s first stint with a Hindi film was a cameo role in Mira Nair’s “Salaam Bombay”, which was edited out in the final film.

Fardeen Khan

He has not been as succesful as the other Khans but has managed to stay afloat in the industry due to his family ties. Fardeen, along with drug peddler Naseer Abdul Kareem Khan were arrested after the former attempted to purchase cocaine from the latter at an ATM centre at Juhu. But still he is considered a chocolate face and girls go ga ga over him.

Zayed Khan

Zayed is another Khan who has enjoyed lukewarm success but things are looking up for this Khan with his upcoming release ‘Mission Istanbul’. Zayed Khan replaced Bobby Deol in Mission Istanbul. The movie was supposed to go on the floors on 1st August 2007 but because of Ramzan and Eid the date got pushed up with the result that Bobby Deol could no longer do the project.

Arbaaz Khan

Arbaaz Khan is Salman’s brother he has not had too many hits and has been overshadowed by his brother. He is also married to Malaika Arora. He became a star after playing a very convincing villain in Daraar.

Sohail Khan

The third brother of Salman has also not been able to reach the heights of his brother but he has shifted from acting to directing movies. The unit of Mera Bharat Mahan realised were caught up in a snowstorm while shooting in Ladakh. The crew was trying to figure out a safe place to spend the night in, when they spotted the world’s highest army transit camp at a height of 16500 feet at More Plains. The army readily prepared food for the crew and also opened three dormitories and six rooms to accommodate them. As a token of thanks, Sohail Khan gifted a pair of branded sunglasses to the Wing Commander and also invited them to the film’s sets.
