Rang De Basanti is a Indian drama film that revolves around a group of friends who were playing the roles of freedom fighters in a documentary film.The film was released in the year 2006 starring Aamir Khan, Soha Ali Khan, Madhavan, Kunal Kapoor, Siddharth Narayan, Sharman Joshi, Atul Kulkarni and British actress Alice Patten in the lead roles. Rang De basanti won Filmfare Award for Best Film, Best Director, Best Music Director, Critics Best Performance – Male, Filmfare Award for Best Editing, Best Cinematography and RD Burman Award for New Music.
Swades was released in the year 2004. The film is written, directed and produced by Ashutosh Gowarikar. Though the film didn’t do well at the box office but received universal critical acclaim and a cult following from Indian and other South Asian audiences around the world. Swades star cast included Shahrurk Khan and debutante Gayatri Joshi in lead roles. It won Frimfare awards for Best Actor (male) and Best Background Score (A.R. Rahman). National Film Awards for Best Male Playback Singer and Best Cinematography.

Mother India is a melodrama written and directed by Mehboob Khan. The film Mother India is said to be the remake of Mehboob Khan’s earlier film named ‘Aurat’. Mother India is a story of a poor woman who struggles to raise her sons in a poverty-stricken village. In the movie she represents India as a nation in the aftermath of independence. At the end she eventually kills her criminal son and sets a goddess-like moral example of what it means to be an Indian woman.
