The Exotic Beaches of Goa

The Goan Beaches are the ideal combination of 4S i.e. Sun, Sand, Sea and Surf. These four words perfectly define the beaches of Goa. There are about 14 exotic beaches in Goa. Anjuna, Miramar, Dona paula, Palolem Beach, Baga Beach to name a few. All these beaches have their own beauty and charm. Dona Paula is famous for its Water scootering facility. The beach is named after Dona Paula de Menezes and is also called the 'Lovers Paradise' due to a myth attached to the place. The Anjuna Beach is also known 'Goa Freak capital of the World'. The major attraction on Anjuna Beach is the magnificent Albuquerque Mansion built in 1920 that is flanked by octagonal towers and attractive Mangalore tiled roofs.

Goa Churches

Another tourist attraction in Goa is the magnificent churches, which remain as silent but forceful witnesses to the intense religious history of the diverse people who lived here.. These Churches are famous for their architecture which is a blend of two or more forms. In early days during Portuguese rule church building was the prime concern and occupation in Goa with the aim of spreading Christianity and converting as many people as they can. Most of these churches were built in Old Goa which is now is a world heritage site. And today the churches are important part of Goa's religious, cultural and social life.

Goa Carnival

One of the most colorful and popular festival of Goa is the Goa Carnival. The carnival takes place in the month of February. Goa carnival is a three day festival which is all about fun, frolic, amusement and merry-making. Goa carnival is the most awaited event of the year and people start their preparations months before. Goa Carnival is essentially a Christian festival but irrespective of their religion all goans participate in this festival with full enthusiasm.

Dudhsagar Waterfalls

The Milky white waterfall that falls from a height of 310 m, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and green forest of western ghats is a prime tourist destination of Goa. The Name “Dudhsagar” means “Sea of Milk”. The waterfall is listed as the fifth highest waterfall in India and ranks 227th in the world. The scenic beauty around is mesmerizing and is perfect place to sit and relax.

Spice Plantations

The perfect place for nature lovers. Goa's dense forests and climatic conditions makes it an appropriate location for spice plantation. The spices grown here are Black pepper, Cardamom, Nutmeg, Vanilla, Cinnamon, Cloves, Chillies, Coriander, Cashew etc. All the spice farms use organic methods of cultivation.
