The citizens of Delhi have multiple choices of destinations to take a off from the hectic daily life and enjoy a short weekend getaway from Delhi. The extensive range of options includes hill stations, adventure, heritage and cultural destinations, wildlife and activities throughout the year. Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu are all within easy reach form Delhi. So just take a quick weekend getaway from the hard life and monotonous traffic jam of Delhi.

  • Agra
Located 200 Km southeast of Delhi, Agra was the capital of Mughal Empire in the 16th and 17th century. The town of Agra is associated with the one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Taj Mahal. Fatehpur Sikri is another remarkable destination to visit in Agra and at the same time located close to Delhi. The place reflects amazing architectural creations that depict a blend of Hindu and Islamic influenced styles. You can easily make a tour of Delhi-Agra-Fathepur Sikri. Other famous tourist attractions in Agra are Chini ka Rauza, India’s famous tomb, Agra Fort and many more.

  • Jaipur city
Jaipur city must be included in your places to visit near Delhi due to its immense popularity and variety of activities to do. The city of Jaipur or popularly known as the “Pink City” is the largest city in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The city boasts an impressive architectural structure mainly expressed in the symmetric arrangement of street and enormous gates and walls.   • Corbett National Park
Corbett National Park can be a wonderful weekend getaway, located about 300 km from Delhi. Situated in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand the park is a home to the endangered Bengal tiger of India. Engage yourself in a splendid Indian safari tour to spot the tigers, bears, elephants, leopards, crocodiles and other wild animals in their natural habitat. For reaching Jim Corbett National Park from New Delhi, follow the Hapur-Murababad-Ramnagar route. Frequent bus services are also available for going there from the capital city.

  • Tehri Camping site
Take an adventurous drive to Tehri Camping site located about 6-7 hours driving from Delhi. Tehri camping offers immense adventurous activities to take part in which includes trekking, rock climbing, mountaineering and painting. Other than this just take in the beauty of the nature, listen to the birds and inhale the aromas of the plum orchards and the apple.

  • Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary in Alwar
This wonderful attraction is just 3 hours trip from New Delhi making it absolutely convenient to get to during a short weekend getaway. You can take a safari tour to spot deer, blue bull, tigers and many endangered species in this wildlife sanctuary.

  • Rishikesh
Located in the Dehradun District of Uttaranchal, Rishikesh is about 236 km from Delhi and takes approximately 3 hrs, 52 mins by road. There are several Delhi to Rishikesh buses and you can even take a taxi/cab. Rishikesh offers a beautiful environment and the natural setting attracts tourist all over the world. It is also the starting point for pilgrimage to Char Dham. Tourist can also take part in trekking and many water sports activities.

  • Ramgarh
Ramgarh is a serene hill station located in the North eastern part of Uttaranchal, about 325 km from Delhi. The hills surrounding Ramgarh are popular picnic spot among the travelers.   • Nahan
Nestled at a height of 3,050 ft in the Shivalik hills, Nahan is about 235 km from Delhi. Nahan is a picturesque town known for its cleanliness and dust free streets. Chandigarh is located at the base of Shivalik Hills and at a distance of about 250km north of Delhi, approximately 4.5-6 hours. August to March is the best months to visit Chandigarh. You can take a bus form New Delhi to Cahndigarh which are frequently available. Some of the major attractions in Chandigarh are Rock garden, Bamboo Valley, Botanical Garden, Leisure Valley, Sukhna Wildlife sanctuary and many others.

  • Gwalior
Gwalior can be conveniently accessed from Delhi and is perfect for a short weekend getaway. Located in the northern most tip of Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior is renowned for the enormous Gwalior Fort which was the seat of many great dynasties that ruled the city. Other major attractions in Gwalior are Tomb of Tansen, Jai Vilas Palace, Gwalior museum, Man Singh Palace and many others.
