Weekend Getaway to The Mini Mahabaleshwar - Dapoli

Dapoli, a beach town on the west coast of Maharashtra at a height of 800feet above sea level in Ratnagiri District, is a very popular recreational weekend getaway near Pune. It is referred as the Mini Mahabaleshwar of Maharashtra because of the natural beauty of the place. Dapoli is unique as it is a small hill station plus a beach destination as well. Amongst various beaches around Pune Dapoli is the calmest of all. Another thing Dapoli is famous for is its Agricultural College - Dr. Babasaheb Sawant Krishi Vidyapeeth. With pristine beaches, historical temples, caves and forts scattered around, Dapoli has something to offer everyone. Popularity of Dapoli is increasing these days with many tourists from Mumbai and Pune visiting it as weekend destination.

How to reach Dapoli ?

By road : The simplest and best way to get in is by Road. Dapoli is 240KMs from Mumbai along NH-17 (Mumbai-Goa) & 180KM From Pune. Maharashtra State Transport buses ploy to Dapoli daily from major cities in Konkan and Western Maharahstra such as Mumbai, Pune and Kolhapur. One can also get in using one's private vehicle (own or hired). A lot of private transport companies have started their Private Luxury Bus service from Mumbai and Pune.

By train : The nearest train station is Khed, 40KM away from Dapoli.

By plane : Nearest Airport is Ratnagiri, around 100KM away.

Pune – Dapoli
Three road routes exist. All of them are abound with lush green trees and take you through the undulating Sahyadri mountains. These ranges dotted with numerous small and large waterfalls in monsoon are truly a breathtaking sight. State transport (ST) buses / cars & jeeps available on rent
1. Via Tamhini ghat (200 km)

Pune --- Paud – Pirangut Road --- Tamhini Ghat --- Turn left at Vile

Vile --- Nijampur --- Mangaon .You will reach NH – 17.

NH – 17 --- Turn right at Lonere Phata --- Goregaon --- Turn left towards Purar / Nandavi.

Purar --- Ambet --- Dapoli (After Ambet, follow sign boards till Dapoli).

After Ambet follow sign boards to reach Dapoli.

(Road map: Pune - Chandani Chauk - Paud - Mulshi - Dongarwadi - Tamhini Ghat - Vile - Nijampur - Mangaon - Lonere Phata - Goregaon - Ambet - Mhapral - Shenale - Mandangad - Dapoli)
