Pune is the city of legendary Maratha leader Shivaji and has the history of being the alternative capital of British. Being one of the popular tourist destinations in Mahrashtra, Pune is frequented not just by vacationers, but also those on business and educational tours. Following are the preferred destinations to take a weekend break to places near Pune: Khandala
Nestled in the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, Khandala is a pristine hill station located in the Western Ghats. It is an ideal destination for a weekend break from Pune. The best time to visit Khandala is the rainy season. Khandala during the rain brings the most picturesque scene to the visitors. Panchagani
Located 100 km away from Pune, Panchgani is a quaint hill station situated in the Satara district of Maharashtra. It offers mesmeric views of the Krishna River on one side and the stunning views of the coastal plains of Maharashtra on the other. Kolad
Kolad has become synonymous with rafting and other water sports, making it an ideal weekend break destination from Pune for adventure sports lovers. Apart from rafting, there are many interesting trekking trails around Kolad especially around Phansad Sanctuary located at 30 Kms from Kolad.
