Wedding Fashion: The Latest Choli and Saree Blouse Styles

  • Guide Rating:
With Wedding season in full swing it's time to pull out your traditional party wear or better still shop for the seasons latest styles. With sarees and lehengas being the preferred attire for most women at Indian weddings I thought I'd share the seasons latest Choli/sari blouse designs.

The Indian choli is a short midriff-baring top worn with either sari or lehenga alos called a blouse. It can be quite a versatile garment, which can be adapted to a variety of styles. Since usually the front of the blouse is covered using a dupatta or in the case of a saree the Pallu. So essentially Choli's have elaborate backs which can also be quite revealing and sexy.

But first for those of you not very familiar with what a choli, lehenga or sari is learn about it in: Indian Traditional Wear: A Glossary to Indian Attire

Latest Choli Back Styles:

Scooped Neck:
This is one of the most classic cuts for a choli and you can't go wrong with it. The scoop neck is a deep U-shaped back, which is often cut quite low and is similar on the front of the dress but not as deep.

Spaghetti Strap Choli:
The back is usually straight or slightly shaped, and supported by thin, delicate straps also called spaghetti straps. To add extra glamour to this style get the straps make of sparkly beads.

Halter Neck Back:
The halter neck features straps which join at the back of the neck. This design usually has a very low cut back, so it is best worn without a bra.

Corset Style: This strapless usually figure-hugging style is perfect for showing off well-toned shoulders.

One Shoulder Style:
The broad sweeping off-the-shoulder style works particularly well with saris and can look extremely elegant.

Tie-up:
As the name suggests, this back consists of thin strips of matching fabric that are used to fasten the top. This is a traditional Indian style many worn in villages which has recently made a comeback.

Asymmetrical:
This dramatic style is different on the left and right of the bodice. This style works for the someone who doesn't need to wear a bra. It's quite a modern look and can be played with.

Peek-a-Boo Back:
This style features a gaping cut out in the back showing just the right amount of back to make it a stunning style.

The Spider Web Back: These intricate strips of fabric mimic the weave of a spider's web with a little added bejewelled center. The neck is best kept as a halter.

The Bejeweled Barely-there back:
For those who dare to bare, the jeweled straps of this daring style what keeps it together. If you can pull this look of...kudos to you!
