Uttaranchal - A Pilgrim site in the Himalayan Kingdom

Uttaranchal a pilgrim site of Himalayan Kingdom is popularly known as the land of Gods. The state is located in the Northern part of Indian subcontinent and is a very famous tourist destination of India. Earlier Uttaranchal was a part of Uttar Pradesh and it was on 9th November 2000 that it was declared an independent state. Some people still refer Uttaranchal as Uttarakhand because it was traditionally mentioned as “Uttarakhanda” in the old Hindu literatures and scriptures. The state is divided into two parts namely “Garhwal and Kumaon”. The breathtaking view of the snow capped Himalayas is amazing.

It was in the year 2007 that the name was officially changed to Uttarakhand from Uttaranchal, but regardless of this declaration people still addresses it as Uttaranchal. The capital of the state is Dehradun which is another famous tourist spot in India.

How to reach?
  • By Air: The only one Airport of the state is in Jolly Grant which is near to Dehradun. The Airport operates almost all public and private airline operators. Being the only airport, it is very well connected with the other Indian cities.
  • By Road: The Road network of the state is impressive. It is very well connected with the Indian Capital Delhi and other north Indian cities like Haridwar, Rishikesh and Jim Corbett.
  • By Rail: The main rail heads in the state are in Haridwar, Kathgodam and one in Dehradun. Many trains from other Indian cities service these stations.

Pilgrim Travel to Uttaranchal: The famous pilgrim places in Uttaranchal are Badrinath, Kedarnath, Haridwar and Rishikesh. Haridwar is considered the most famous Hindu pilgrim center and is believed that a dip in holy Ganges open the doors of heaven. Many come here to take the last breath and want to be cremated here.

Hill Stations of Uttaranchal: Nainital, Almora, Ranikhet and Mussoorie are a few famous Hill Stations in the State of Uttarakhand. These places are blessed with enormous natural beauty and landscapes. The view of the snow capped mountains, tall pine trees and lush green grasslands is worth a visit. A stay at these hill stations will help you relax and rejuvenate all your senses.

A stay close to Mother Nature: The pleasant climatic conditions make the State an appropriate place to be home for various wild animals and plants. Today Uttaranchal is a famous wildlife hotspot that has various National parks and Wildlife sanctuaries. The most famous National park of the state is Jim Corbett National Park. The Park is named after the great hunter turned into an environmentalist and a conservationist, Jim Corbett. He had a key role in the establishment of this wildlife sanctuary which is one of the oldest in India. The other wildlife tourist attractions in Uttaranchal are Raja ji National Park, Gangotri National Park and Project tiger of Jim Corbett National Park.

Adventure Travel to Uttaranchal: The adventure lovers who seek a perfect place where they can enjoy, trekking, hiking along with white water rafting then Uttaranchal is the place. The snow capped mountains of Auli, The wild water of Ganges and the snowy slopes of the mountain are apt for trekking, rafting and skiing.
