Uttaranchal - A Pilgrim site in the Himalayan Kingdom

Uttaranchal a pilgrim site of Himalayan Kingdom is popularly known as the land of Gods. The state is located in the Northern part of Indian subcontinent and is a very famous tourist destination of India. Earlier Uttaranchal was a part of Uttar Pradesh and it was on 9th November 2000 that it was declared an independent state. Some people still refer Uttaranchal as Uttarakhand because it was traditionally mentioned as “Uttarakhanda” in the old Hindu literatures and scriptures. The state is divided into two parts namely “Garhwal and Kumaon”. The breathtaking view of the snow capped Himalayas is amazing.
It was in the year 2007 that the name was officially changed to Uttarakhand from Uttaranchal, but regardless of this declaration people still addresses it as Uttaranchal. The capital of the state is Dehradun which is another famous tourist spot in India.
