Upcoming Cars in India - The Giants on the Roads

Do you get annoyed when a SUV overtakes your car? Or do you feel bad when you are on the side and SUV is in center of the road as if it rules the road? Or you love overtaking someone in the smaller car while you are in your super machine (SUV)? Whichever side you are the fact remains the same. SUVs rule Indian roads. If you have been following Indian automobile industry you might know that the number of SUVs on Indian roads have increased drastically within the last decade.

 

These Sport Utility Vehicles are high in demand, that’s the reason many of the international automobile giants are focusing to enter into the SUV segment, and India has become their favorite destination. These cars are huge, strong, tough, and comfortable.

 

Following are the upcoming SUVs in Indian Market:

  • Honda CR-V Diesel – One of the first SUVs to be launched in India from an international automaker was Honda CR-V. It was launched in 1996 and was the best selling SUV for many years in India. Later it was categorized as mini SUV. According to the rumors in the market, Honda CR-V Diesel version may get a new look. The diesel version will give better mileage than the petrol model. It is priced approximately at Rs. 25,00,000 i.e. Rs.25 Lakhs. The New Diesel model is expected to be launched by the end of January 2011.

  • Volkswagen Tiguan – Volkswagen also spreading its automobile business in Indian Market. It is now entering the hatchback, small cars, sedan car segment in India. The German carmaker is launching Tiguan in direct competition with Audi and Skoda. We can say that VW’s Tiguan is not completely an SUV but more of a CUV (Crossover Utility Vehicle). The SUV was a great success in the European market and the manufacturers are hoping the same in the Indian markets too.

  • Nissan Murano And Nissan Qashqai – Nissan’s X-Trail is already a success in Indian market and it is one of the leading & successful International carmaker. This time Nissan is coming up with two of its internationally acclaimed SUVs for Indians. Nissan Murano and Nissan Qashqai are Two separate, compact crossover SUVs; from one common maker. Nissan Murano was first launched in USA in 2002 and is doing really well since then. Whereas Nissan Qashqai, was first launched in 2007 and is now ready to do its round in Indian markets. It will be launched to directly compete with Tucson and others in the segment.

  • Ford Kuga – Unlike its short and sweet name, Kuga is a premium compact SUV. It has already done well in European Markets and was sold in premium categories only. With this new SUV launch, Ford is really making a comeback in the Indian Automobile market.

  • Renault Koleos – When Japanese, American and Germans are entering Indian market, how can French stay behind? The Production of Renault Koleos started way back in 2008. It is a car designed by Renault and developed by Nissan. In some parts of the world, it’s also called Renault Samsung QM5. Renault Koleos and Renault Egeus concept cars inspire the body design of Renault Koleos.

  • Dacia Duster – Now this one is from a Roman carmaker ‘Dacia’. Dacia is all set to launch its Duster in 2011 in Indian Market. Dacia Duster will be priced somewhere between 8 – 10 lakhs. Duster is successfully running in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and South America from 2010 and would be made available in India by 2011. It will be available in both the variants i.e. Petrol and Diesel. In addition, it will be loaded with features like ABS, EBD and airbags.

  • Maruti Jimny – The Indian Automaker Maruti is all ready to launch entry level SUV. The Jimny is the successor to our lovable gypsy. It will be launched towards the end of 2011 with an approximate cost of Rs. 7 lakh.
