Top 10 Googled Indian Bollywood Celebrities

As the year comes to an end, internet giant Google, reflects on the year's Top searched people, terms, the most popular sites and so on called the Google Zeitgeist — the spirit of the times. Google's 2008 India Zeitgeist List covers the most frequently-searched terms for the period across many categories like Bollywood Celebrities, Holiday destinations etc. In addition they have listed the top 10 fastest rising search words in India. These conclusions were drawn by reviewing several thousands of 2008's most popular searches and ranking them based on how much their popularity increased compared to 2007.

Here's a look at the Top 10 Searched Bollywood celebrities on the Internet in 2008:

1) Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif was ranked No.1 as the most searched name on the internet according to a latest survey by Google’s 2008 India zeitgeist lists. Katrina Kaif is a 24 year old, British-born Indian film actress who has appeared in Bollywood, Telugu and Malayalam films. Katrina’s popularity is catching up with the masses in a big way. People are mesmerized by her beauty. Several of her fans have kept Kats pics as screensavers. Her smile, they say, is like an oasis in a desert. It helps them feel relaxed when they feel down at work.

2) Aishwarya Rai

Second on the Google India 2008 Zeitgeist List is Aishwariya Rai Bachchan. Model and winner of Miss World turned Actress, Aishwarya Rai has been 'THE' face of Bollywood the World over. She has represented India on numerous occasions and has lit the screen on fire with her outstanding performances. It's no wonder she ranks high on the most searched Bollywood celebrities in India.

3) Salman Khan

Beau of the reigning No.1, Salman Khan finds himself in the No.3 spot in the most Googled Bollywood celebrities list. Salman who has been acting in Bollywood since 1988, established himself as one of the most prominent leading actors of Hindi cinema. Often known as Bollywood's Bad boy, his knack of walking into trouble has overshadowed people's perception of him as an actor. But many-a-common-man claims that this macho hunk has a heart made of pure gold.

4) Hrithik Roshan

A child actor in the 1980s, Hrithik Roshan made his film debut in a leading role with the blockbuster Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai (2000), which earned him Filmfare awards for Best Actor and Best Male Debut and shot him into instant stardom! Has been called the first complete Bollywood actor who has no weakness and scores very high in every department: face, physique, voice, dancing, drama, romance, action, comedy, macho, softie...and hence ranks at No.4 on the most searched celebrity list.

5) Kareena Kapoor

Nicknamed Bebo, the Indian film actress Kareena Kapoor takes the No.5 spot of most searched bollywood stars of 2008. Hailing from a family deeply involved in the film industry the Kapoor's, Kareena has make a mark for herself in the industry appearing in over 31 Hindi movies, and has thus won four awards for her performances.

6) Shahid Kapur

Following his ex-girlfriend on the list at No.6 is actor Shahid Kapur. Accidentally landing the commercial for Pepsi which starred Shahrukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukherjee, Shahid started his acting journey in the advertising world and by doing music videos. 7) Deepika Padukone

Three films old Deepika Padukone is shining like a star and makes the top 10 googled celebrity list at No.7 a spot above the King Khan himself with whom she made her debut in Bollywood. The Indian supermodel turned actress has won the hearts of many with her first Hindi Movie release Om Shanti Om and is all set for a long run in Bollywood.

8) Shahrukh Khan

Is the King Khan losing his magic touch? Once the reigning King of Bollywood the seasoned actor lands the No.8 spot on this List. This Delhi born boy of Pathan origin has ruled Indian cinema after Amitabh Bachchan and is one of the most successful actors of Bollywood.

9) Mallika Sherawat

Frequently featured in the Indian media as a sex symbol, Mallika Sherawat has been known for her public openness and has made her mark in the international film circuit as well. 10) Genelia D'Souza

Closing the list at No.10 is Genelia "Meow" D'Souza of 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na fame. While she seems like a refreshing new face in the movie industry, the young 20 yr old actress has done well over a dozen movies in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and even Hindi in what's known as Kollywood, Tollywood and Bollywood.
