Tips on Home Decor

Have you just purchased your dream house? Or looking to renovate your old one? You dont have to hire interior designers who charge you exorbitant money for their services. Instead, use that money to buy some new furnitures or artifacts for your house.
Going by the current market rates, its difficult to afford a house that is luxuriously spacious. One has to find out solutions to create ample space for all your things without making the rooms look crampy and too full. Here are some tips, you might want to consider before you start decorating your house.

1. Find a Focal point :

Before you start designing your living room, always decide on a focal point. This helps you to add furnitures and other decorative items that will go along with the flow of the room. If living in apartment houses, you can choose a wall, a window or a balcony that comes attached as the main attraction of the room. You can start by concentrating on that focal point. Use your creativity with colors, paintings, lightings and make it the most striking feature in the room. All other things like sofas, coffee table, lampshades and decorative items should just compliment that. So you do spend too much of your energy trying to balance or even out the room. There are many wild bohemian, contemporary styles you can explore.

2. Personalize your space :

A house should be a reflection of your tastes, styles and personality. When you enter your house, a feeling of warmth and belongingness should be experienced. If you do not put in things that does not exude comfort, you might end up staying in sterile environment, where you wouldn't relax or lie down on a sofa for fear of spoiling the upholstery.

Put up family pictures or any of your collector's items. Also try some fusion like hanging up wind chimes or a colorful mirror work on the walls. Drop an ethnic touch by adding silk curtains, cushions or a persian carpet on the walls.

3. Colors on the walls:

Selecting the colors for the walls, again should be an extension of your personality. Today paint companies like Asian Paints provide good painting sessions and free samples to the customers to see and decide on a color.

Wallpapers are another very useful and cheaper options than paints. Mix-and-match and customized designs rule the day.

4. Furnitures

'Minimalist' is the latest trend in furnitures today. Keep your room clutter free. The more furniture you put, there is a possibility of over-crowding the room. It is not necessary to have a perfect color combined furniture. Try avoid to buy a full set of large sofas and chairs. Go for the mixed up versions, where there can be varied sized chairs, an odd piece of stool, a rustic coffee table or an antique low seater. Add 1 or 2 small lampshades to the living room in different places to high light different elements in the room.

5. Contemporary Style of Living:

Contemporary Style are very affordable way of designing your rooms. One thing you should keep in mind if you want to create a contemporary living room design is simplicity, low furniture arrangements, modular sofas, abstract lighting sources, pedestal tables, sleek sideboards, etc.
