• Bajaj Platina

Bajaj has incorporated new technology in its engine in the segment of 125 cc. it is known as DTS-Si Digital Twin Spark –Swirl Induction which aims for greater fuel efficiency for its customers. After ceasing production of the Bajaj Platina 125 for a while, Bajaj re launched the Platina 125 in the Indian market in September 2008 at a price tag of Rs 39,000. The naturally air-cooled 124.6cc engine is capable of generating 8.5PS of power. Other than its 100 cc version Platina has a 5-speed gearbox and a longer wheelbase and wider rear tyre along with the Swirl Induction technology. As per the company claims, the motocycle delivers a mileage of more than 100 km per liter. By looks it is similar to that of its predecessor. The design feature includes premium black shade matte finish alloy wheels, clear lens headlamp, matt finished black silencer with chrome finish foot rest. The price tag is Rs. 39,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).

• Hero Honda Glamour

The glamour is a combination of high-end sporty bikes and lower end 100cc bikes. The 125cc ‘Quantum Core’ engine of the Hero Honda Glamour offers the biker a pleasurable biking experience. The look is quite appealing with sporty graphics on the sides and optimum overall size of the body. The grooves in the tank are blended even for a 6-footer to accommodate knees with comfort. The sides of the tails look as if adopted from the former Ambition 135. The fuel tank is larger compared to other bikes in its segment. The large tank also has greater storage capacity. Yamaha Gladiator has an attractive look with its engine guard and graphics. The bike can be a great choice for starters especially if pillion ride comfort is a concern. Gladiator has a ingenious sticker job, black alloys and the R1 inspired indicators. Moreover it comes with 5-speed tranny that gives it good pick up and great mileage. The specialty is that the bike is a good blend for highway as well as city riding conditions. The 123.7 cc engine produces an output of 11 bhp at 7500 rpm which is good in the segment of 125cc bike.

• Yamaha SS125

Basically another version of the Gladiator, Yamaha SS125 has a sleek design and sports the same 4 stroke, air cooled 124cc engine that is capable of producing 11PS of peak power at 7500rpm and 10.4Nm of max torque which comes at 6500 rpm. Yamaha SS125 has an aerodynamic, racy under cowl, tachometer, lowered front cowl, light weight aluminum alloy wheels and disc brake at the front.
