Looking for a perfect beach travel? Have you ever thought of one in India? To your surprise India has exquisite shoreline. Most of these shorelines are mostly packed with tourists sunbathing, enjoying water sports etc. These beaches are now more commercialized in terms of food vendors, near by food stalls, street peddlers selling local stuff and all.

Here is the list of best beaches on India.

 

Gokarna Beach

Gokarna Beach

Gokarna means 'cow's ears' in Sanskrit. It is a small town in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. It is a famous Hindu pilgrimage city and also a famous beach destination. It is believed that Shivji emerged from a cow’s ear here. Gokarna is located at the meeting point of two rivers namely Gangavali and Agnashini. These two rivers forms the shape of an ear and hence came the name “Gokarna”.

Varkala Beach

Varkala Beach Varkala is a peaceful beach as compared to other beaches of Kerala. Varkara is one of the famous tourist destinations of India for its 900 year old Janardana swami temple. Varkala is the only beach in Kerala where you can find cliffs along the sea side. The high red rocks, tall coconut Trees along the sea side are amazing. The beach is not explored by many tourists so you can still enjoy the unpolluted, neat and clean beaches.

The beach is divided into two parts that is north and south. The north beach is quite and has the laid back atmosphere whereas the south beach is crowded by young & enthusiast tourists. The sea at north side is calm and hence it is safe for families with kids. The south side sea is a little violent and is deep as well.

It has various historic monuments built largely between the 7th and the 9th century, and has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The shore temple at Mahabalipuram is an extraordinary site to took at, as the waves of the high tide sweeps into the temple.

Kovalam Beach

Kovalam Beach Tourists flock to this stretch of sand, located about 10 miles outside Thiruvananthapuram City in Kerala on India’s southern tip. That’s because it boasts black sand beaches and a number of Ayurvedic spas, such as the Manal Theeram Beach Resort, for which the area has become known. The coastline is dotted with both budget lodging and more plush hotels, and offers sea views from the hills of nearby Poomkalum.

Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Andaman and Nicobar Islands Situated in the Bay of Bengal and partially covered by dense forest, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, off India’s east coast, have remained largely off the beaten path. That’s set to change. This year, the Indian Center for Tourism and Culture announced it was building an international airport in the area and is looking into opening 10 more of the existing 572 islands to visitors.

Marina Beach

Marina Beach One of India’s longest beaches, located in the city of Chennai on India’s southeastern coast, Marina Beach attracts families looking to spend some time outdoors and stroll along the grassy walkway bordering the beach. In 2004, waves created by the Dec. 26 tsunami destroyed many of the fishing villages near Marina Beach and the area has been rebuilding its infrastructure to attract more tourists.

Juhu Beach

Juhu Beach Situated on the shores of the Arabian Sea, Juhu is one of the most popular beaches in Mumbai. Visitors spend their time people-watching and nibbling on street food such as pani puri, chaats and pav bhaji, all of which are sold by vendors manning snack stands that line the promenade. However, the water is polluted; most sunbathers stick to the sand.
