Saree - Six Yards of Sheer Elegance

Saree, today has become a party-wear attire. Each woman dressed in saree looks so feminine and graceful. The moment you think of Indian women you visualize a lady dressed in Saree. Saree is also the most favorite ceremonial and occasional dress of Indian women. Occasions like festivals, weddings, parties etc.

The origin of saree was traced back in the Indus Valley civilization and flourished in 2800 -1800 BCE. The earliest known depiction of the saree in the Indian subcontinent is the statue of an Indus valley priest wearing a drape. The sarees during the royal era were studded with precious gems and were hand embodied. The fabric used to the finest and it is believed that the quality of that fabric can not be matched with the fabric of the modern world. That time sarees were hand woven and different kinds of works were done over them. Silver Zari and Golden Zari, Resham thread embroidery, sitara, Lucknow karai, Dabka, Jardozi, Sequence, Antique, beads, pipe, mukash, bandez etc. That time printed sarees were not in fashion as there were no printing equipments. Cotton and silk was the most commonly used fabric in that era.

The Indian women when dressed in Saree look complete, elegant and beautiful and to complete the Saree perfectly draped, a garment named petticoat is required which is worn under the Sari. The main function of the petticoat is to hold the Saree placed properly on the portion from feet to waist on woman’s body. Blouse is like a top that matches the saree or is in contrast with the saree. Now days most of the sarees come with a blouse piece included and attached with saree, so there is no need to search for another one. There are enormous styles and designs of the blouse.

Indian Women and saree are so attached to each other that if you think of an Indian woman you visualize a lady dressed in Saree and if you think of saree you visualize an Indian woman. They are just inseparable from each other. They are like a dual identity that bear value and bring a sense of belonging towards each other.

A saree not only brings out the best in a woman but also adds some glamour, grace and sexyness to her persona. On one hand it is revealing and sensuous and on the other hand it is concealing and decent piece of clothing. Saree is attire that makes a woman look sexy even when she is draped from head to toe.

Indian women can never fall short of choices, especially in terms of saree. Almost all the Indian women who love to dress in saree have plenty of them; still they always crave for it. There is one desire, to get a new saree, in every Indian woman that has no end to it. Indian women can actually pick from a large collection of saris ranging from banarasi, kancheepuram silk, bandhej, baluchari, pocchampally, Gadhwal Silk, Leheriya and Zari.

All saree does not suit every one. It depends on the body structure of each woman. The only thing that you should keep in mind is that the saree should suit you and your body. Its not the beauty of the saree alone that matters. Its suitability is that which matters.

• For fat women:
  Georgette and chiffon saree will suit you. Thick sarees like the Mysore silk will make your fat body look much better. Organdy, tissue, cotton sarees will make the fat woman look more fat. So please abstain from using it.

• For plump women:
  You can stick on to stiff sarees such as starched cotton sarees because the plumpness of the body will be highlighted if you wear the georgette or chiffon sarees.

• For slim women:
  To look a bit fat try using tissue sarees, embroidered cotton sarees or organdy sarees. You will look more beautiful in this.

• For short women :
  Short women, stick on to small bordered or non-bordered sarees. Also avoid big prints and highly width bordered sarees.

• For tall women :-
  You can choose big flower printed or big prints sarees, also with high borders. Width bordered Kanchipuram saree with beautiful munthani will be awesome for you.
