Scorpio is an awesome SUV. No doubt there are better Quality SUV's than Scorpio but Scorpio is not bad a deal at all. The new 2009 Scorpio (The mighty Muscular Scorpio it seems) is still better deal over the previous. The Engine is awesome specially the Petrol Engine which is very quite. The pick up is awesome and Drive quality is really smooth with premium suspension quality. If you want to check out the new Scorpio, Go to http://www.mahindrascorpio.com

@Govindbhat ... You are absolutely right. I'll Second your opinion about New 2009 Mighty Muscular Scorpio. As an Indian made SUV, it is simply unbeatable.
Govind Bhat said 9 months ago:
There is More good News for Scorpio fans and I just felt that everyone should know that in the 2009 Mighty Muscular Scorpio you get 18 new features at about Rs.70000 lesser than before. Check this link out if you don't believe http://www.mahindrascorpio.com/scorpio_refresh/whatsnew.html The best feature in Scorpio now is the Micro Hybrid Technology. It is the automatic Start stop technology for engine. The engine stops automatically when it is unnecessarily kept running, like at traffic jams and traffic signals. Very important for protecting our environment. I think Mahindra has taken a great initiative by introducing this technology in India for the first time.
rishab said 9 months ago:
Yeah dude, The Micro Hybrid Technology is very important for place like India where there is so much pollution and fuel consumption. A lot of Indian drivers have the habit of wasting fuel unnecessarily by not switching off the engine and letting it idle for long durations of time. Micro Hybrid Technology will make a lot of difference.

Hi All, I agree with the comments on the new Mighty Muscular Scorpio. I own the 2009 SLE, since May 09. The engine is highly responsive and refined to near perfection. Mahindra's agressive pricing, especially for SLE model with ABS, Fog lamps, ERVM at 9.5L on road is true value for money, for those looking for a compact SUV within 10L. It's good to drive in city as well as highways giving 10/14 KMPL respectively. This is the best so far for an indian SUV, in terms of price and performance. But, it still gives a bumpy ride and not great for off roading. Don't expect the comfort of a sedan here. Though there are no issues while parking it on city roads, malls, Mahindra should really think about cutting down the height of the vehicle especially on the backside. The backside is too wide, flat and tall with the upward projection. Little slimming here would do a world of good for this car. I still wonder when do we get a compact 5 seater SUV or cross over with good ground clearance in India within 10L. All the SUV's mentioned above are huge in Size and high on price. Anyone has inputs on Skoda Yeti..? Cheers, Raj

There is one car that doesn't really fit in here but I would still consider it to be an SUV is the Mahindra Xylo. Actually Mahindra Xylo is a combination of a sedan, a SUV and a MUV. Its sheer size and powerful mEagle engine makes it the monster SUV like its very own brother Scorpio. The luxury features like Reverse parking, DDAS, Flight trays, Flat belt seats, mobile charging points, Individual AC vents gives it the luxury of a sedan. Last but not least, it is one of the best and most spacious people movers around. Mahindra has rightly marketed it as a MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle). I am considering buying a Xylo considering its sales figures and its popularity. I wanted to just wait and watch and Xylo has proved itself. It safe and trustworthy now to buy a Xylo.

People Movers are People Movers, NOT SUVs!! Last I checked this place was about SUVs. Anyone with first hand experinces with the Fortuner??
Raj said 6 months ago:
True. You can't call XYLO an SUV. Any inputs on Toyota Fortuner or KIA Sportage..?
Milind said 6 months ago:
@Gaurav Bhardwaj & Raj ... I am not saying that Xylo is and SUV. It does have its limitations. Nonetheless, it does have the character of an SUV considering that It is made on the Scorpio platform.

After reading these comments i feel no one has tested the off roading capabilities of our mighty "maruthi gypsy", no other vehicle can stray near it during serious offroading. REAL FACT: GYPSY (called as SUZUKI SAMURAI IN AMERICA) IS THE VEHICLE WHICH HAS THE HIGH ALTITUDE WORLD RECORD WHER NO OTHER 4 WHEELER CAN GO. I knw regarding the comfort and features ther's noting in gypsy, but i dont think ppl going for serious off roading need those comfort level. Anyways felt bad after seeing the above list without having gypsy in it....
