Imported Sports Bikes : Suzuki Hayabusa and Intruder launched in India

Japanese two-wheeler major Suzuki launched its two hyper sports bikes, the all speed Hayabusa and the all muscle cruiser Intruder M1800R, both priced at Rs12.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Suzuki's Hayabusa is the fastest motorcycle (Claimed top speed of about 321KPH for 1999 models) before the 2001 detuning agreement. From the 2000 and 2001 models top speed of the Hayabusa is restricted by the engine management system. Suzuki's Hayabusa is now challenged by BMW K1200S, Kawasaki ZX-12R and Kawasaki ZX-14R but Kawasaki or Honda or Ducati or BMW cannot claim their bikes as the fastest production motorcycle in the world because the Hayabusa will retain that title until the detuning agreement has been lifted - if ever. Suzuki has rolled out 2007 variant of Hayabusa named GSX 1300RZK7. The 2006 model of Hayubusa is popularly known as GSX 1300RK6. Hayabusa's may be costly but know that you may not be able to afford a Buggati Veyron 16.4 - the world's fastest production car which is around Rs 8crore, but for a price of around Rs 10 lakh or the price of two Maruti Swift, you can have the world's fastest production bike for your garage.

Suzuki Intruder M1800R

The mighty M1800R is an exercise in ultimates. It is the most powerful mass-production cruiser and uses brakes developed for racing application, has the biggest rear-tyre on a production motorcycle and the biggest piston on any car or motorcycle.

Performance wise, the M1800R is the ultimate production cruiser. If you demand custom bike attention but want sports-bike power and handling, then the M1800R is just the kind of bike for you.

The bike weighs in at a mammoth 319kg! Its got a 1783cc V-Twin engine which offers lots of torque for laid back cruising. Special feature is its shaft driven rear wheel.

Suzuki Hayabusa

The Hayabusa needs no introduction. The man-machine combination of John Abraham-Hayabusa in DHOOM says it all. Arguably, the worlds fastest production bike, it can hit 200mph at full throttle. It uses a 1.3l-liter 190 bhp engine that uses many advanced technologies to bring race track experience to the road.

Speaking at the launch, “This launch is very significant when we are globally surrounded by uncertainties. Suzuki has been delivering superior technology, which has been proven world-wide. We intend to showcase the same in India,” Suzuki Motorcycle India Vice-President (Sales & Marketing) Atul Gupta told reporters here.

The 2008 Suzuki Hayabusa boasts of features like a ram air-equipped 1,340cc 16-valve inline-4 engine with twin swirl combustion chambers, a new S-DMS (Suzuki Drive Mode Selector) which offers three different engine settings, and sleek aerodynamic design. The hydraulic slipper clutch and radially mounted front brakes ensure smooth power delivery and quicker stops.

The bikes will be available in Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
