Kashid is a beach town on the shores of Arabian Sea, in the North Konkan (coastal region) region of Maharashtra, India. It is one of my favorite weekend destination and could also be a good option for 1 day trips. Taxies can be heired easily. It is located 30km from Alibag and 135km from Mumbai on the Alibag-Murud road. Kashid is popular mainly because of its white sand, blue seas, green mountains, paddy fields, and rivulets. The sea turns a bit wild during the high tide. At noon the current is quite high and goind deep into the sea could be dangerous. Kashid has a 3 km stretch of beach situated between two rocks around the seashore. This is by far the best beach in this part of the Konkan region and it is packed on weekends as people from Mumbai and Pune take a break.
A weekend getaway and a popular business centre today, Alibaug is frequented by affluent Mumbaiites and Puneites. The town and its surrounding villages are the historic hinterland of the Bene Israeli Jews, who migrated to west Maharashtra in the 19th century from nearby Indian cities and parts of modern Pakistan. The prime attraction of Alibaug is the Kulaba Fort situated on the seashore. You just get one hour between the low tide and the high tide to visit this fort. Once caught between the low and hight tide you may have to spend about 5 to 6 hours on the fort. The other attractions are Magnetic Observatory, Kanhoji Angre Samadhi, Vikram Vinakyak temple, various small churches and synagogues, and the tower of St. Barbara. Some of the more popular beaches include Akshi, Revdanda, Kihim and Nandgaon.
Dive deep into the ocean of tranquility at Murud, a peaceful fishing village with a pretty seashore and a helter-skelter of wooden cottages. A quiet little getaway that basks in the Konkan sunshine, Muruds lovely beach is edged with swaying betel palms, coconut fronds and groves of casuarinas. A temple dedicated to Dattatreya occupies prime position on a hillock in Murud, from where you can get a commanding view of the entire bay. A holiday and honeymoon destination with a difference, Murud will definitely sweep you off your feet.
Gentle winds, soft sands and inviting waters make Shriwardhan Bay irresistible to beach lovers. And if one relishes sea-food, there is no dearth of delicacies to sample here. Adventurers can even take a small boat to the north side of the bay and explore a land where the Peshwas or prime ministers of the Maratha kingdom, originally resided. The Peshwa Smarak is of interest to most people who visit Shriwardhan. The town of Harihareshwar is known for its tranquil and picturesque beach and is also famous for the temple of Harihareshwar.
Diveghar, is another marvellous spot around 15 km from Shrivardhan. The spot is popular for its stunning beaches. However, watch out for the crowd that throngs the exclusive temple housing a pure gold (12 kg) idol of Lord Ganesha. The idol is rumoured to have strangely exhumed in a chest full of cache of diamond almost 1000 yrs ago. The drive to Diveghar, along the coastline, is breathtakingly magnificent and the scenic drive combined with the overwhelming joy of watching the “Suvarna Ganpati” (Golden Ganesha) is beyond words. The long stretch of Diveghar beach is just the ideal place to continue in the serene atmosphere accompanying the temple.
Dapoli can be best described as a place where a hill station and a beach come together. Situated at a height of 800feet above sea level in Ratnagiri District, on the west coast of Maharashtra, India. Dapoli is blessed with natural beauty and cool climate throughout the year having a long coastline surrounded with forest and is a home for various migratory birds and animals. Dapoli also known as “Mahabaleshwar of Konkan” is a perfect place to spend time with friends and family for weekend or for holidays.
Ganapatipule is a small village, serene, sedate and unspoiled. The beach here is still as natural and pristine as ever. And traveling by roads is an experience by itself. The vast "Konkan" stretch abounds with scenic greenery. There are narrow mud-roads, the earth is red and the roofed houses with clean courtyards add a quaint touch to the panorama. The local vegetation includes fruit bearing trees like mango, betelnut, banana, jackfruit, coconut, etc. The entire western coast is covered with these trees. The locals are as warm and cheerful as their surroundings. Ever ready to chat with the visitors and make them feel at home.
Mandwa is a beautiful, untrodden beach. On a vindicate day one can get pleasure from a long, awesome aspect diagonally the bay, up to the Gateway of India. Mandwa village too, has a charm of its own -- with its striking groves of coconut palms. You can design an extraordinary exhibition area holiday near at Kihim. Unspoilt and isolated, this pleasing site has a soothing effect on all municipality dwellers. For the natural world lover, Kihim has a lot to offer: wood packed by means of windswept flowers and uncommon butterflies and birds. Best attraction is the Kolaba Fort, simply a furlong away commencing the shore. 15 kms on or after Alibag is Chaul, a historic place by way of Portuguese ruins, Buddhist Caves, the Hamam Khana, a church, a temple and yet a synagogue.
Situated 6 kms south of Malvan and 546 kms gone beginning Mumbai on the coast of Maharashtra is Tarkarli. The mojar attraction at this time is the prolonged and narrow stretch of beach, with its spotless water. On a tidy day, you can see the sea bed from end to end a depth of 20 ft. Then, of avenue near are the forts, Singhudurg, one of Maharashtra's new popular and meaning sea forts, built in the 17 th century and the famous Padmagarh fort. period in Tarkarli, give somebody the job of certainly to visit the restaurant for the palatable cookery and undergo a little unusual-staying in MTDC's engaging Konkani Huts.
