Shimoga (Jog Falls)

The Jog waterfall is the 7th deepest waterfalls in the world. It is located in the district of Shimoga which is closer to Bangalore. There are direct buses from Bangalore to this place.

The watercomes from the River Sharavathi. During the rains, the dams of the river are let open on weekends, which causes a lot of water to gush down the stream. And this is the best season to watch the Jog falls.

Coorg

Situated 256kms from Bangalore, Coorg or Kodagu, lies on Karnataka's Western Ghats. Misty hills, lush green valleys, coffee plantations and teak forests are all flaunted in this place. The coffee estates here produce some of the world's best coffee. The other specialties are honey, cardamom, pepper and oranges. Madikeri, the district headquarters of Coorg, is spread along the ridge of a mountain, at 3,900 feet above sea level.

Siddapur

Siddapur is located 400 kms from Bangalore and is in, the heart of Coorg's coffee Country. It lies between River Cauvery on one side and Dubare Reserve forest on the other. Siddapur and the surrounding places have their own curious mixture of population, a clan of warriors and tribal. The top sightseeing places in Siddapur are Madikeri Fort, Raja's seat, Abbi Falls, Omkareshwara Temple.

Chikmagalur

Chikmagalur is a five-hour drive and 251kms from Bangalore and one of the best monsoon getaways from Bangalore. Nestled in the Baba Budan hills, Chikmagalur is a calm, serene town full of scenic surprises with hills, valleys, streams and snow-white coffee blossoms. Chikmagalur is a trekker's delight, with its rugged mountain trails. Sightseeing places close by are Kemmanagundi(55km), Kudremukh(95kms) and Kudremukh(10km from Tarikere).

Nisargadhama

An island in Coorg district, Nisargadhama is around 280 kilometres from Bangalore. Full of lush forests with rosewood, teak and the rich flora and fauna this is an ideal place for you if you’re a nature freak. The island has a variety of butterflies, woodpeckers, crocodiles, elephants and sambars, together with its orchidarium that completes the spectrum.
