An Overview of Lavasa City Near Pune

Lavasa is the latest and newest retreat for people in Pune and Mumbai. Lavasa is believed to be the first planned Hill City of India. Being located near Pune and Mumbai makes it a happening weekend destination that offers an array of activities to indulge in. Lavasa is turning out to be a new hangout for people looking for a small trip away from the hustle and bustle of hectic city life. It is absolutely a leisure holiday destination located in the middle of lush green hills. Located at 1 hours drive from Pune, Lavasa is a private Hill city developed by Lavasa Corporation Limited. It is spread over 7 hills that covers an area of 25000 acres. The township includes hotels, resorts, educational institutes, malls, residential property, IT companies etc.

Lavasa aims to be recognized as an upcoming center of hospitality, tourism, education, healthcare and retail. The architecture of the hill city is a perfect blend contemporary yet timeless design beautifully inculcated in multiple housing options like, villas, apartments and rental housing. Location : Lavasa city is located in the Western Ghat of the Indian State Maharashtra. It is situated in Mose Valley near Pune at a distance of 65 Kms and from Mumbai it is approximately 200 Kms away. Spread over 25,000 acre of land, it covers 65Km of lakefront that gives the whole city a mesmerizing look.

Lavasa City : Lavala together comprises of 5 towns which would be completing in near future. Dasve is the first town in Lavasa completed in 2010-11. It in-houses various residential buildings and stand-alone villas build in Goan and Mediterranean architecture style. Lakefront houses are the major attraction of this hill city. It has 30,000 such houses / apartments. The residents here have access to modern amenities on one hand and the tranquility of nature on the other. Life here is energetic yet calm, aspirational yet affordable, hi-tech yet simple and urban yet close to nature.

Climate : Lavasa is located at about 2000 – 3000 ft above sea level. Lavasa enjoys a calm and pleasant weather throughout the year. The developers expect to have about 3 lakh permanent residents and at least 20 lakh visitors annually. Tourism would be one of the major industry to flourish in Lavasa Hill CIty.

The Master Plan : Based on the principle of New Urbanism, The master plan of Lavasa city is developed by internationally renowned design consultant HOK, USA. It is based on the transect model where the center region of the city is densely populated and gets sparser uphill. Without disturbing the nature and place, the man made environment blends perfectly with the natural environs.
While some sections are complete, it will take long time to complete all the sections. Upon completion, Lavaca City will comprise of five towns located on seven hills.

Facilities:
  • Sports facilities : Planned sports facilities include a Nick Faldo-designed golf course, a Manchester City-branded football academy, and a Hockey Australia hockey academy.
  • Theme park : A theme park over 65 acres (0.26 km2) in size is planned.
  • University : Lavasa will host at least one university. Initially Lavasa had a partnership with Oxford University, but by 2010 this British institution had removed itself from the project. As of 2010, Symbiosis International University is planning to set up a new liberal arts college campus at the township.
  • Other facilities : A 200 acre health and wellness center and an herb plantation are also planned.
