Swami Ramdev, popularly known as Baba Ramdev, is a Hindu Yogi and a National Activist. He has gained popularity worldwide for his teachings of Yoga, Pranayama and political activism on several medical and political issues, especially with his recently launched movement against corruption in India. These are all the known facts that do not need any elaboration. However in this article I have listed some unknown facts about Baba Ramdev, that are will be quite interesting to know.

Here are some of the unfamiliar and interesting facts, probably unknown to the masses:
  • Ramdev Baba’s trust has workshops and runs courses in United States, Britian, Canada, Nepal and Mauritius. He also has a book and CD business which brings a monthly turnover of around $ 500,000. He is also scheduled to travel to Russia in late July for conducting a series of lectures and workshops.
  • Ramdev baba works 18 to 20 hours a day. He wakes up 3 am every morning to start his exercise schedule, after a healthy diet of green vegetables, milk and seasonal fruit.
  • Ramdev baba says he is totally devoid of alcohol and has never tasted eggs.
  • Ramdev baba was sent cease and desist order by the health ministry on his proposal of replacing sex education in schools with yoga education to combat the spread of AIDS and HIV.
  • In 2009, When Delhi High court decriminalized homosexuality; local media reported that Ramdev said "The verdict will encourage criminality and sick mentality. This kind of thing is shameful and insulting."
  • Ramdev has also explained homosexuality to be a mental disease, and mentally stable individuals never become homosexuals.
  • Ramdev’s main yoga centre is in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, and can hold 6,000 people. It is also the lifeline of a global business spread across three trusts, and fetches a turnover of $ 40 million every year.
  • His assets also include a Scottish island, now renamed as “Peace Island”. It’s a two-campus university mainly dedicated to yoga teaching and a pharmaceutical company producing herbal products and ayurvedic medicines.
  • Ramdev intends and have also promised to form a national political party in order to bring a challenge to the ruling Congress party at the 2014 general elections. He wishes to contest all 543 seats across India.
  • Ramdev Baba claims that he has follower in every household in India. He believes that at least 30 million people tune in every day to his yoga programs that explains methods and teachings for treating any kind of disease from diabetes to high blood pressure through yoga and pranayama.
