  • Berijam Lake, Kodaikanal
Located 21 km away from Kodaikanal hill station, Berijam Lake is perhaps the most beautiful lake in South India. Surrounded by tall pine trees the lake water is pure and clean and used for the water requirements of the Periyakulam town and the surrounding regions. Originally discovered by the British & Spanish people, the lake covers an area of 24 hectares. It’s a star shaped lake and the scenery around is captivating. The major attraction of this lake includes boat riding and fishing. You need permission to enter the forests.

  • Venna Lake, Mahabaleshwar
Venna Lake is within a walking distance from the town of Mahabaleshwar and one of the prime attractions for the tourists. Constructed in 1842, the lake spreads over 28 acres, with an average depth of 10 feet. The lake is surrounded by trees on all sides. A late winter evening boat ride through the slight fog is well admired by the visitors. Tourists can enjoy a boat ride over the lake or a horse ride next to the lake. A number of small eateries line the banks of the lake. The area is covered with lush green which adds the magnificent beauty of the lake.

  • Changu Lake, Gangtok
Changu Lake, also known as Tsongmo Lake is one of the scenic lakes in India. Bordered with Alpine forests, Changu Lake meaning the "source of the lake" is a glacial lake in the East Sikkim, India, about 40 km away from Gangtok at an altitude of 3,780 m. This lake remains frozen during the winter months. Tourists need a permit to visit this lake as it falls in the restricted area. People from foreign countries require special permission to visit this lake. It is also a home to brahminy ducks. Its cool and placid water complements the scenic beauty around. A small temple of lord Siva is constructed on the lakeside.

Satpura Lake, a tranquil picnic spot located on the heartland of Saputara hill station is the prime attraction of the only hill station in Gujarat. Punganoor Lake is a man mad lake created artificially in the Yelagiri hills in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu to enhance the beauty of the place and attract the visitors.   • Nakki Lake, Mount Abu
Nakki Lake is the heart of all activities in Mount Abu, the only hill station in Rajasthan. According to the Hindu legend, it is a very ancient sacred Lake. The lake offers boating facilities and horse rides are also available around the lake for interested visitors. A children park and a statue of Swami Vivekananda marking the monk’s advent at Mount Abu are special attractions in the vicinity of Nakki Lake.

  • Prashar Lake, Mandi
Located in the Mandi district, Prashar Lake is a high-altitude lake, about 2,730 metres above sea level and 42 km from the main Mandi town. Near the lake is a three-tiered pagoda-like temple dedicated to Prashar. With deep blue waters, the lake is held sacred to the sage Prashar and he is believed to have meditated there. Lake is surrounded by snow-capped peaks and can be easily accessed via a beautiful trekking route from Bagi.

  • Sattal Lake, Bhimtal
There are a cluster of lakes in Satal located 23 km from Nainital in the Kumayun Himalayas at 4320 feet above the sea level. This serene and secluded place consists of total 5 lakes. The first lake is the Nal Damyanti Lake, followed by Panna Lake and then the three lakes- Ram, Laxman and Sita. These lakes are draped in dense oak forest adding to the beauty of the place.

Kalagarh Lake is situated at the south-western side of the Corbett National Park as a result of the construction of a dam known as Kalagarh dam. According to the myths Tamdil Lake was created when a huge mustard plant was brought down.
