indiamarks is hosting its first contest starting on Labor Day, May 1, 2008.
In our attempt to build the best resource of guides and tips for everything India with YOU, we are kicking off our first community contest for YOU.
All you need to do is share something that you know about India that another person may find a lot of value in knowing.
It can be anything from shopping advice in Mumbai to the best ways to spend a vacation in Goa to planning a trip to the back water of kerala to the history of the king of all fruits - the mango.

- You have to sign up for a free indiamarks account in order to
participate or if you already have an account just log in.
Contest entries must be submitted through written
articles/guides under any categories (see categories here) on
the site. Any articles/guides submitted during the competition
period will be automatically considered. Each user can submit
unlimited number of articles/guides. Articles/guides must
include original content and have 250 words minimum.

The indiamarks.com `Best Article/Guide Contest'
is only open to legal residents of India, who are 18 years of
age and older. Employees, representatives and contractors of
BETTER Inc., any affiliated companies, the immediate family
members of such companies (regardless of where they reside) and
individuals living in the same households of each of these
individuals are not eligible. By participating in the Contest
through the submission of an article as described in Section II
herein below, you agree to comply with and be bound by these
Official Contest Rules (the "Rules"), and the decisions of the
administrators of the Site and Contest, which shall be final and
binding in all respects.
- To enter the Contest, you must first Sign Up
for Free and become a member of indiamarks.com (the "Website"),
and confirm your registration via email. Once you have become a
registered member of indiamarks.com , you must log in to the
Website use the Create a Guide option in order to submit and
post an original Article or Guide (an "entry") in the English
language of not less than 250 words on any of the given
Categories (See list of Topics/categories). All articles
submitted via your username/ registered e-mail will be deemed to
have been written and submitted by you. Therefore, please
maintain your indiamarks.com log in information as confidential.
All articles must be submitted between 12:01 a.m. IST on 1st May
, 2008 and 11:59 p.m. IST on 30th June, 2008 (the "Entry
Period"). There is no limit on the number of articles/guides
that you are permitted to submit for consideration in the
Contest; provided, that, each article/guide complies with the
Rules and you may only have one (1) article in the Top 10 (see
Section III below). The Administrators of the Contest are not
responsible for any late, lost, misdirected, damaged or
incomplete entries. All articles/guide must be related to the
indiamarks theme of `Everything India'. All articles/guides must
be original works, never previously published for commercial
gain, and must not be plagiarized, infringe on any third party's
copyrights or other rights. The article(s)/ guide(s) submitted
by you cannot be offensive or inappropriate, as determined by
Admin in its sole discretion. The Administrators may disqualify
articles, without notice, that it deems, in its sole discretion,
to be inappropriate or offensive.
- III. Winner Selection & Judging.
- During the Entry Period,
indiamarks.com users will be asked to rate each submitted
article/guide on a scale of 1 to 5 stars (1 star being the
lowest rating). The voting is user restricted and requires
indiamarks.com registration. Each registered member can vote
only once per article/guide. The final article/guide score will
be calculated from the combination of the total number of votes
and the guide star rating. The Ten (10) articles/guides with the
highest scores will be announced as the finalists, and one (1)
winner will be picked after being judged by the Administrators
of the Site Each user may only have One (1) article in the Top
Ten. If, based upon the star ratings, a user has multiple
articles/guides that qualify for the top ten in a category,
Administrators, in their sole discretion, will select the
article/guide with the highest star rating to proceed as a
finalist.
- IV. Notification of Prize Winners.
- The Prize Winners will be
notified by the Admin of the Contest via email to the email
address listed in his/her indiamarks.com account. The return of
any prize notification or prize as undeliverable or any other
non-compliance with these Rules, as determined by Admin, may
result in the forfeiture of the prize.
- Three (3) Prizes will be awarded. 1st Prize for `The
Best Article/ Guide' as deemed by the Judges (Administrators)
will win an Apple iPod Nano (4GB). Two Runner-ups as deemed by
the Judges (Administrators) will win an Apple iPod Shuffle each.
Under no circumstances will more than Three Prizes be awarded
during the Contest. No transfers or substitution of prizes will
be permitted.
- The odds of winning one (1) of the three
(3) prizes awarded depends upon the number of eligible votes
received for an article/ guide and the number of eligible
entries received during the Entry Period.
- VII. Limitation of Liability & General Conditions.
- You
acknowledge and agree that indiamarks.com shall retain
worldwide, in perpetuity, all ownership rights to each of your
submitted articles and reserves the right to publish, edit, add
to, delete, distribute, use, license, duplicate or otherwise
exploit in any manner or forum whether now known or hereafter
devised each such article/guide in any manner it sees fit and no
compensation shall be owed to you resulting therefrom.
indiamarks.com reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to
disqualify any individual it determines, in its sole discretion,
has tampered with the entry process or the operation of the
Contest in any manner or is in violation with these Rules. In
the event that Admin, in its sole discretion, finds that the
Contest is compromised, becomes corrupted in any way or is not
capable of running as planned due to unauthorized intervention,
fraud, technical failures or any other causes which affect the
administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct
of the Contest, as determined by the Sponsor in its sole
discretion, the Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, terminate,
modify or suspend the Contest, in whole or in part.
